Season's Greetings !

Rather appropriately the tree was put up and dressed yesterday, the Winter Solstice.I love the smell of pine and the light and colour this brings into the house. We shall enjoy it until twelth night.

A gift that didn't make it under the tree was these fabulous wristers.

They are made with some of my friend Benedetta's first handspun yarn. She is learning to spin on the wheel on which I taught myself to spin. It's from a small maker [no links] in Chedder [U.K.].It's journey from here to the North-East coast of the U.S.A. involved a detour to Northern Ireland ! I am so glad it's living with someone who loves it and seems to have a natural gift for spinning,as I feel I do.I'm not bragging. It felt like I'd done it before.

My progress on Butterfly was stalled by recent traumas.I haven't felt up to concentrating on her.Soon.
In the meantime I'm knitting a lovely soft, warm winter shawl from Elann's Cuzco.I won't link as they've almost sold out.

I'm knitting it in a simple k2tog,yo pattern, that could easily be mistaken for crochet.I think this rustic looking yarn works best in a simple stitch and garment. It's far from rustic feeling.I keep burying my face in it's silky softness.Very snuggly.Just the thing !
