MUSICALLY SPEAKING...

Apologies to Karen for taking so long to do this music meme tag thing.

1. Total amount of music files on your computer:

Nothing.I prefer to listen to music on the stereo.Call me old fashioned !

2. The last CD you bought was:

Billy Bragg's ''Must I Paint You a Picture ?"

3. What is the last song you heard before writing this message?

Norah Jones "Feels Like Home".The whole album.

4. Write down 5 songs you often listen to or that mean a lot to you.

Can't possibly do that ! The one's that mean the most, and the reasons, are far too revealing about me.

Favourite artists and songs ? A constantly changing smorgasbord ! I shall list my current play list, but it isn't definitive. No particular order.

Eric Sartie. "3 Gymnopedies".
The Poozies. "Infinite Blue".
La Bottine Souriante. "Rock and Reel".
Elvis Costello.Everything.
Billy Bragg.Everything.
Talking Heads.Everything.Oh yes !
Lou Reed and the Velvet Underground.
Beautiful South.
Kirsty McColl."Tropical Brainstorm".
Paul Weller."Stanley Road".
Bjork."Homogenic".
Scissor Sisters.
Siouxsie and the Banshees.Particularly "The Scream".
The Proclaimers.
Annie Lennox.
Fleetwood Mac."Rumours".
Split Enz,followed by...
Crowded House.
Dory Previn."Mythical Kings and Iguanas".I particularly like her ''mad at Andre for dumping her for Mia Farrow''songs !
K.D.Lang.
The Clash.
The Undertones.
Motown.Pretty much their whole "classic/legend" listing.I used to go to Northern Soul Night, every tuesday,at a nightclub, through my art college years.
Just call me a hippy,punk,soul sister !

5. Who will you pass the torch on to (3 people) and why?

I don't pass these things on.

Loads of stuff.

My dear friend Kristin finished one of the pairs of Sanquhar gloves. They are beautiful, and a testament to her skills as a knitter.I feel the urge to knit some of these !
Better finish my Sockapalooza socks.

I'm past the heel now.I love the colours, and the way that they pool.I enjoy seeing how handpainted and variagated yarns will behave once you knit them.I can't bring myself to stress about pooling, unless I get an un-sightly lump of colour over a boob or the middle of the stomach !
I've just taken another photo of them - don't say I don't do anything for you !

I like the way the colour intensity changes according to how the colours are juxtaposed. Not sure about the heel flap.Looks a little long to me.I've decided to just follow the pattern as written though,as I can't measure the recipient.
They are pretty though.
What ? What about the swatch and calculator ? Here's a clue ! In a sale of Rowan yarn,I think five years ago,I bought a huge pile [three packs !!!] of Chunky Tweed in Bilberry.Reduced from £55 to £20 per pack.A rich, dark purple with nice flecks of green, magenta and tan in it.
Yes,I know there's Pickpocket and Folly to knit but I feel the need for familiar, comfort knitting. This is a jacket I have knit, with modifications, and loved, three times so far.The others were worn into the ground.Time for a new one.

I had a most wonderful and unexpected birthday surprise from Susan.I was her Secret Pal 3 and really enjoyed finding nice things to send her.
Look at the gorgeousness of the Cash Iroha. What a colour ! Sweets are no more ! The boys helped eat those.

Another bright spot was the knitting get together that Val hosted. Here are three of the girls - apologies to Sheila. The two photos I took of you were not good.
