WOOLFEST IS ALMOST HERE !

Here is a map of Cockermouth.
The ''fest'' is being held in the mart on the A66,opposite the sheep and wool centre.Outside of town,on a bit of a hill, according to Allan. It's a covered, but open, livestock mart,so not the least bit glamarous.I have a funny feeling that they've underestimated the throngs of desperate spinners and knitters that will be descending on them in search of good wool !
I'm looking forward to it ! I shall be stopping before we get there for refreshment and a loo. This stratergy goes hand in hand with having a tardis handbag that contains everything you could ever need whilst away from home ! Greatly assisted by the chick's wheelchair backpack, stuffed full with bottles of water and baby wipes. How did I exist before I had a baby and discovered the myriad uses of a baby wipe ?
I don't have any great purchasing plans, and really only have in mind gifts for numerous friends, and a spindle for a sad, dejected Sue.Unless she's managed to cadge a lift - anyone passing close to Bristol on their way up the west coast please e-mail Sue !

The rest of this post is dedicated to yarn p*rn !
Kay brought pressies !

There's beautiful, beautiful Fiesta La Luz silk in Cabernet,Koigu Loop,Lambs Pride Bulky [I see a Keyhole bag in my future !] and gorgeous purple Manos wool. All my favourite colours.Beautiful fibres.Fun projects ahead. All that plus this fantastic ribbon rose.rose11:6:05.jpg
I really love this rose so much.The colours,the textures.So me !
Thank you so much dear friend.

From the boys at Threadbear I received these two delicious hanks of soft merino from Blue Moon Fiber Arts.

The feel is very similar to Koigu KPPM.The colours are incredible ! This one's called ''Jewel of the Nile''.

I shall close with a picture of a long awaited Peony flower.I bought this Bowl of Beauty [interestingly it's hard to find two pictures of this peony that look the same ! ] three and a half years ago as a tiny bare rooted ''bud''.It's taken until now to feel established enough to produce this one bloom. Not as blousy as some, but very pretty.

Knit in an ancient yarn, bought,I think,in 1984,from the stash.I made a cabled cardigan with it.This is being made with some of what is left.Ten 40 gm balls,if memory serves me well.

A super duper tip : When knitting with Rowan Denim yarn remove blue from fingers, completely, with moisturised baby wipes.Fab !
I decided to amuse myself for an hour or so the other day by starting a sleeve/swatch in Denim.More at a later date ! It's all her fault !

Woolfest !
We shall be there on the 25th.Nearly wasn't to be though. The Fertility unit is celebrating 18 years of babies. We were one of their first couples. The party was going to be at the beginning of July, but one of the consultants was going on holiday,so they changed it [!] to next saturday.Oh no ! I felt we should go,and was prepared to be terribly grown up about it,but L,dear friend and Fertility Sister, persuaded me to go to Cockermouth instead. As they've invited over 1,000 babies, with parents,I doubt we'd fit in the hospital atrium.Chick will still get pressies, and will be represented on the fabric tree,as a leaf.I did feel some qualms, but Allan assures me that he'd rather go to Woolfest.Fab !
