Remember the Wrappy Cardi [Rebecca mag 29]?

I've just finished a non-lacy version, for a non-lacy person,in this great shade of conker [shade 56].I love GGH's Soft-Kid [scroll down].It creates a beautifully soft, cloudlike fabric. How fab that they've published a Soft-Kid special.I wonder if any of the patterns are adaptable to a more voluptuous figure ? If I was slim enough I'd knit myself a collection of wrappy cardis.Such a flattering shape.

This one was for the chick's retiring headteacher.A striking and fashionable woman, with a strong personality and sense of style.I was rather worried that she wouldn't love it ! She really did ! A relief.
Last week, before it was finished, she wore a stone coloured linen dress with an african pattern print in indigo black [you know, that inky, blueish black] and this EXACT same colour.I was pleased to see that. She has at least one thing to wear it with !
So,one knitting deadline met.

A friend gifted me some stunning spinning fibre.I'd sent her a gift of yarn I knew she would love and, more importantly, knit. It had resided in my stash, waiting for the perfect project, for too long.I decided to set it free.
As an unexpected thank you I was sent this beautiful, naturally dyed, tussah silk from Copper Moth and some kid mohair roving from Fleece Artist.

Such beautiful stuff.
I am particularly pleased to have something from The Copper Moth. One of the women behind the enterprise started me spinning many years ago.We were knitting pen-pals [pen & paper.Imagine !].I shall be forever grateful to her for introducing me to Elizabeth Zimmerman's books, and the ways of the wheel. It would be no overstatement to say that those two things changed my life.Really ! The freedom of yarn expression I discovered was liberating, and talked to my soul.
People move on,and we haven't been in touch for a decade,at least. She will always have a place in my heart though. My fibre mentor.

This pic is for the Etherknitter,a lover and collector of Hemerocallis.

No idea what variety this small-flowered,dwarf,Day Lily is.She is beautiful though.
On your marks.

Go.

I received a fab Sockapalooza package from the lovely Mia.

I asked that the socks be made for Allan, and she chose a delicious shade of Koigu.Brown with lots of different colours dotted throughout. Not too bright but still really interesting.Just right for boys !
She very generously included some sock yarn in her parcel, and some fabulous tops for me to spin up.

Thank you Mia.
I am desperate to get to my wheel.I have some gorgeous silk/kid mohair blend from Jeni to finish spinning up. Have you seen her fab sock yarn at Get Knitted ? I'm still knitting to deadline though. Will I get the cardi knitted in time ? Better get cracking !

The anniversary lillies are looking glorious.
