*** Latest update at just before midnight on Friday 26th August : the fund total, once the amounts for the car seat and the trike [we can't wait !!!] are deducted = just over ... £1500 ... !
That's incredible, and moves me to tears. We're on our way to an electric wheelchair. That's so exciting. That amount doesn't include the amounts from the auctions that have finished or the special sock yarn sale, which will really bump up the total.
A heartfelt thank you to you all.

Thank you e-mails : I've just started on those to people who donated on Sat 20th ! I'm getting there. If you fell you should have received one by now check your bulk/spam folders. I've had only one bounced e-mail,to an address that included quilter in it.
To my friends that feel I owe them a proper e-mail : I struggle to find the time and energy at the best of times. No chance right now. Sorry ! You can always chat to me ...
*** Update : A fabulous new auction, for a beautiful knitting needle roll and some great stitch markers, all handmade, has been set up by Melissa who, despite family worries of her own, wanted to help Oliver.
Melissa has some nice stitch and row markers [I particularly like the Goddess markers] here.
How will I ever repay all the kindness and generosity that you have all showered us with ? ***

We spent a,for Oliver in particular, very happy hour and a half at Whizzkids, practising driving their electric wheelchair - he does get a bit upset that we have to leave without it,but is generally quite stoical about these things. I hope we're able to get him an outdoor, all surface, chair soon. Everyone worries that the chick won't like being seen in the rather girly pink chair. Apart from the fact that he quite likes pink,he really doesn't care. He just wants to whizz about.
Here are some pics from today. Sorry if you're using dial-up. I'm going to reduce the number of entries on this page. if anyone wants to read about our incredible fundraising journey and the wonderful generosity of knitting world start reading from the August 13th entry.

We are so thrilled to be able to get the much needed car seat. He's way over the weight limit for the one we are currently squeezing him into. Can I just say,yet again, how unbelieveably expensive it is,simply because it shocks me every time I say how much it costs ! I was honestly starting to despair of ever getting the funds together just for that. Thank you so much, yet again,to everyone.
The thing that really excites us,especially Oliver,is the trike. That wiil be so incredible for him. Getting places under his own steam. Hurtling up and down the street [well,as close to supporting a hurtle as his knackered old parents can muster],like all the other children have been doing all summer.
I shall be writing to our local Lions club as they have expressed an interest in helping Oliver. I find these things so hard. Somewhat pathetic,I know, but it isn't an easy thing to do. Just as putting Oliver's Fund's PayPal button at the end of this post is hard. For my chick I can do things that make me feel awkward and uncomfortable.
I have to say that this has been a very emotional experience for me. It seems that my true friends and those that really care about us live miles away. Many of them, you,I don't even know. I am incredulous at your desire to help my child have a full life. It's amazing and has renewed my somewhat bruised faith in people and their ability to care. I may tell you a tale or two about the bruising. One day.
The two HipKnits auctions [see links in the previous post]have ended. Thank you so much to Kerrie and the bidders.
The ''Oliver's Special '' sock yarn is all gone. Many thanks to Sue and Jen and the buyers for that. It's all so incredible and exciting.
Don't forget the other auctions :

Tennessee Denim.
Ecru Denim
*** New auctions ! ***
Margene has very generously listed some items on e-bay,with proceeds going to Oliver's Fund. They are needlepoint and embroidery items. Many thanks Margene.

Next week we're going back to Whizzkids. There'll be some electric wheelchairs there to see and try and a therapist to give advice.
