who visit here to see how the chick is doing I'm not going to make you suffer by having to wade through the knitting stuff !
These are from yesterday's adventures in the winter bright, afternoon sun.
A bit of driving.

A bit of reversing.

Mind that car !

Heading home in the sunset, with a gappy grin.

On to the knitting stuff.
I have,at last, started my Jaywalker socks. Maybe now Cara will include me in the
knitalong club !

It's a nice pattern with an easy rythmn. Chevron patterns always show variegated yarns off to their best advantage. The Vesper sock yarn is fantastic. It has merino's characteristic chalky look and feel, which I really like. I do wonder how well such a soft yarn will wear, but it feels lovely.

I'm really bored with my scarf ! Also a touch peeved by the fact that the,now finished, second ball has a lot fewer light bits in it,despite being the same dye lot. It doesn't really matter as it's a scarf and I started with a more variegated ball,so the dull one won't be seen. The yarn is turning my bamboo needles blue. It's a nice scarf though, and I like the subdued, denimy, blues.

Some people seem rather disapproving of talking about gifts received,or exchange items that aren't part of an official swap. A touch puritanical I think. If I show things it isn't because I'm bragging. Simply that I enjoy sharing beautiful yarns and fibres with like minded people. Some people have asked me not to show stuff, and don't show what I send them. I fully respect that, not least because there have been nasty comments and e-mails. Can you imagine ! I'm not buying much yarn right now, just the odd hank here and there for myself and exchanges. The main reason is that I can't justify spending money on myself when we're trying to save for stuff for Oliver [ I just paid out £199 for insurance for the Hippo !]. There's loads of yarn I'd love, but I can live without. I have a beautiful stash ! The point is that I don't,for one minute, resent others' yarn purchases or gifts. I am astounded that anyone would,or that it be viewed as unseemly and boastful to show gifts. I've not taken Holy orders !
So,here is what I really enjoyed buying with a much appreciated gift certificate for Get Knitted [thank you T.].

Those Lantern Moon needles are gorgeous ! Really beautiful. Lightweight, smooth and rather sexy !
Next post I intend to talk about past and future exchanges and past gifts. There's a backlog ! Nothing wrong with a bit of yarn p*rn !

One selfish purchase I did indulge in was this.

I am amazed at how much it helps. It really eases the pressure, and therefore pain,in my right knee [*** LEFT ! It's my left knee. You'd think I'd know ! ***]. Helps me walk taller too. Oliver's physio pointed out that pushing the manual wheelchair makes me walk leaning forward, which really adds to the pressure on my knee joints. It will be a while before Oliver is fully competent in his electric chair,so I'll be pushing for some time to come. Still,I'm glad I got over the horror of needing a walking stick at 46. I may need a collection,to co-ordinate with my clothes ! :0)
