A SCARF.

Which I wear folded in half, with the ends tucked through the loop. Extremely warm. Just the thing for the current bout of hacking cough. Enough winter, already !

I feel safe wearing it,in a way I find hard to define. Protected by the softness of the merino, and somehow empowered by the richness of the colours. Am I a complete nutter,I wonder ?
Scarves are deathly boring to knit. They just seem to go on forever. Fab to wear if they fit the bill. As this one does. Thanks to J. for the fantastic yarn and Stacey for the pattern.
One of my early attempts to start knitting, aged about twelve, involved a scarf,a garment I've very rarely knitted until recently. I chose a pattern that was,I think,a 3x3 knit and moss stitch rib. The yarn,a 100% wool tweed in a luscious burgundy [I always knew my own mind] was gorgeous and thick. I kept making mistakes,as beginner knitters do. This infuriated my mother. She likes perfection, and didn't have the patience to teach, help and show me what to do. She took the yarn and knitted a very long 2x2 rib scarf. Which I never wore. Ever.
I taught myself to knit when I left home to go to college. Knitting, spinning, fibre and colour are my passion, and are a great source of pleasure, friendship and relaxation for me. It's lucky I'm stubborn. ;-]

I've started yet another project ! Using stashed yarn, Peruvian Collection Baby Silk,a beautiful 80% baby alpaca 20% silk yarn from Elann. They have none right now, which is a shame as it's gorgeous. It's nice to be knitting fingering weight yarn on 2.25mm needles.

Even if this is all I have to show for the weekend.

Threading all those beads is such a pain.
Notice the colour? I've seen this around the blogs and decided to join.

A nice,no pressure, lightweight challenge. Yellow will be interesting. I only like yellow in nature, not in clothing !

Last, but far from least, I received my final Better Pal package, from Carole.

Two sumptuously soft balls of Rowan Classic Cashsoft Aran in a soft, slightly greyed, pale blue. This will make a beautiful cabled hat for Oliver. The notecards are really fab. Chocolate too ! Thank you Carole for giving me some lovely things over the last three months. You've been a great pal. I'm looking forward to getting to [cyber] know you.
My giftee was the wonderful MamaCate. I very much enjoyed finding things to send her. We have a lot more in common than you'd ever imagine and I'd love to meet her one day.
