ALL ABOUT A BOY !

Our surprise was that we had a very special visitor. One that the chick was more than happy to take out for a tour of the neighbourhood, driving his Hippo.

My dear friend Kay came for a flying visit. A far too short overnight stay. I have to tell you that I felt bereft after she walked off to catch the train to go back to London,to resume her life as a famous, book signing, author. My kindred spirit left me feeling somewhat lonely. Long distance friendships can be very hard. I am so grateful to know Kay,to have spent time enjoying her intelligence, wit, insight and charm. Just wish we could spend more time together. Longer next time,o.k. ? :0)
So,this is the one, somewhat crappy, picture [sorry Kay] that Allan took of two firm friends enjoying each others company.

I don't delude myself that I'm the sole reason for the train journey North !

Oliver was recovered enough from the latest virus to go to school on thursday. I needed thursday and friday to recover from taking care of him ! He's a joy to have around. I am,to remind you, plummeting toward decrepitude.
Yesterday was sunny'ish, and Oliver seemed rather happy with life !

Today was also good. We had a visit from a camerman and a sports editor/reporter. Intrigued ? Ian Payne, the sports editor for the local Tyne-Tees t.v. station is a member of Variety Club North. He and the cameraman,Simon, took part in,and filmed, the Sahara trek last November. They've made a program about it and wanted to include short sections showing some of the chidren who benefited from the fundraising. It'll only be seconds in a half hour slot. For those who live in this region it's being aired on Tuesday April 11th at 7.30 p.m.,ITV.
The boys went on the esplanade so as to have the sandy beach in the background. It would have been more poetic if they could have got onto the beach - we've yet to have raised/saved enough for a means to get the wheelchair into the car boot, thus into town, down a ramp, onto the sand [I must thank, very much and most sincerely, those that have given us money toward this].
Here's the camerman, set up for the driving toward camera shots !

After they'd finished Allan and Oliver went for a drive up and down the esplanade, got caught in a downpour and arrived home drenched, full of laughter and with that lovely fresh air smell about them.

Next time I'll cover the knitting and spinning backlog and talk more about Kay's visit. Today it was all about a boy.
