GREEN

garden15:5:06.jpg
The front garden [a tiny patch, under a beautiful big White Beam tree that seperates us from the pavement] is looking like a woodland glade. All this rain is,at least, good for the plants. I love rich, dark greens and teals. Emerald is abundant in the stash,in silks, wools and beautiful blends. I'm not showing it to you as I wouldn't want you to weep. I bought a lot at very, very good sale prices when Rowan discontinued Kaffe's Kid Silk and their Grainy Silk. Sigh.
I'll show you the very beginnings of a shawl I'm knitting in some of my handspun yarn.

The roving was a blend of merino, generic ''English wool'' and a tiny biy of glittery nylon. It was stripes of close shades of green with a tiny bit of black. The black gives the yarn depth and life, don't you think ? It's about 4ply thickness, knitted on 5mm needles. One of my growing selection of projects that I pick up and knit as my mood directs me.
My main project, about which I feel really good,is Sandy's Cardigan from Big Girl Knits. Jillian kindly gave me permission to post this image [saved to my computer, then uploaded].

I've knitted one back section, and am nearly finished with the other. I'm making mine quite a bit longer, and have added an inch to the panel width. I'm also thinking about knitting the side panels in stocking stitch instead of garter,to reduce the bulk. I'll be adding more shaping, with a lot of stitches added to the bottom to allow for my broad beam !

The yarn is the long time discontinued Himaraya from Noro. Similar to Kureyon, but with fewer colours and longer colour stretches. I love the teal and sooty black in this yarn, and the metallic quality the colours have. Verdigris, brass and pewter with iron black.

The loop mohair is one skein of Koigu's Loop,a lovely gift, that I shall be incorporating as random stripes in the front panels. It matches the teal in the Himaraya perfectly. I'm enjoying this one a lot and have my eye on a couple of other garments in the book, which is fantastic by the way.

I did want to thank everyone who posted a comment in response to my Blog Against Disabilism post. Heartfelt thanks to everyone who bid on Thomas' beautifully knitted stole,Thomas and Jane for the auction and to everyone who has donated toward the hoist. Your generosity, love and caring are very much appreciated.

I'm feeling much better now I've stopped the meds. A clearer head makes life so much easier. Hate having a wooly brain and not being able to think.
