Wow,wow,wow !
Kerrie and blogless Michaela have been very busy organising a group of auctions for Oliver's fund. These ''ready made stash'' auctions were created as a response to a snarky comment left on my blog. They more than testify to the fact that the vast majority of knitters are incredibly generous and caring people.
I am overwhelmed, and so very grateful.
Thank you to everyone who contributed [I did too !] and those who choose to bid. An enourmous thank you to Michaela and Kerrie.
A lot. All the rain that should have fallen in July. It was wonderful. Now the inside of the house is a comfortable temperature and I'm looking forward to some decent,non-sweaty,sleep.
Yesterday Oliver announced that he was as sweaty as a sweaty boy ! I confirmed the widely held view that I'm a bit odd ! The house was so hot,the air clingy. It was raining, but that didn't change things. So,at 12.10 a.m.,I went outside, put a towel on the wet garden seat, put up the huge golf umberella and sat quietly eating an ice lolly ! I felt a lot better after that. It was nice and peaceful, sitting listening to the trees drinking and sighing, the apples swelling [I swear you can hear them grow] and the slugs and snails partying, and snacking on my plants. B*st*rds !

Oh p*o !

After all the socks I've knit I still make mistakes. I got Allan to try this sock on,seeing that he has slimmer feet and ankles than I. Couldn't get them over his heel as the leg was too tight. So I ripped and cast on again on 3mm needles. The pattern says 2.75 [I originally used 2.5mm]. The only needles I have in that size are the pink, blunt tipped,Pony Purls [anyone want them ? Leave a comment]. I really dislike knitting with them. So,the Holz and Stein 3mm needles it is then ! The diameters of the needles feel the same. I'm still loving the yarn, and liking the pattern.

Spun some lovely roving from a favourite supplier. A gorgeous, rich purple with periwinkle running through it [it shows too blue in these pics]. It's a lovely, soft and lofty aran weight, spun semi-worsted using a nice, relaxed long draw.

Still knitting Sandy [the cardigan from Big Girl Knits]. It's a bit much in the heat.

I might even wear it this winter. Ha,ha !
I really like it,so hope to maintain my slow, but steady, momentum.

I love this pendant, from a talented etsy seller.

She uses stained glass, which I love. It is a very pretty green, and radiates calmness and serenity. Possibly !
My favourite stained glass is the hand blown,1930s,glass in the windows, that made us love this house

In a fit of heat induced madness I signed for this bit of lunacy: Sock Wars.
I may live to regret it.

Tomorrow I might write some long awaited e-mails !
