IT'S MY BIRTHDAY!

47 !
I'm trying to not be too miserable about it. Not helped by Allan being away overnight, and not taking the day off. Am I too old to pout ?!
So, I took a good few pics of my smiling self [don't say I don't head complaints !] , and tried to pick a good one. One that looked like me. Reflected my personality.
Ha, ha !
Too jowly, too bald, too ugly, weird looking...
This is the best I could do. A very arty, faulty shot.. Probably quite representative of me, after all.

Oliver tells me that some members of staff have referred to me as the ''large, butch lady'' ! One wonders why they bothered with the ''lady'' at the end. He's too innocent and uncontrived to lie about this. It isn't a phrase I'd use and most 7-8 year olds don't use ''butch'' in daily conversation. My main problem is that if they want to say unpleasant things about parents they should keep it in the staffroom, not spew it out in front of the children. My ego can take it [Butch ? Really ?] ,but I don't want Oliver to feel bad, uncomfortable or unable to tell me things. Nor do I want him interrogated about who said it. He'll just get confused and upset. What to do ?
I'll decide over the next few days.

Red, dark terracotta, claret, brown...

I knit a swatch from the ball on the right in the last one. [The swatch in all the pics is the same one. How the light changes things !]
A nice red. Very close to the lightest inner petals, but really too bright red for me. Probably.
Possibly.

PURPLE

is my favourite colour. Most of the time ! I have always loved deep, rich colours.
Decided to do this for fun, following a link on Knitnana's blog.

You Are Grape
You are bold and a true individual. You are very different and very okay with that.
People know you as a straight shooter. You're very honest, even when the truth hurts.
You are also very grounded and practical. No one is going to sneak anything by you.
People enjoy your fresh approach to life. And it's this honesty that makes you a very innovative person.
What Color Purple Are You?

I'm going slightly mad looking for the perfect velvet rose yarn. I don't think I'll ever get the colour. It's impossible to capture the intense beauty of these dark roses.

It isn't just the colour that matters though. Drape, yarn weight [I don't want my tension/gauge too far out ! ] and the general look of the fabric all matter. I will have to compromise.
Such is life.
