The snot, that is.
The chick continues to cough, and sneeze fat caterpillers of green and yellow. Nice.
We have a Dr.'s appointment first thing tomorrow. The only one available. Oh joy. I have a sinus and ear infection that has left me wandering around in a muffled bubble. I hate not being able to hear clearly. HATE IT. It's reduced me to tears. I find not being able to hear my feet scuffing the carpet, the rustle of the sheets as I move, Oliver's soft breathing and all the other quiet sounds deeply distressing. I have very sensitive hearing and can't bear to have the volume up too high. When alone I tend to spend my time in silence, to compensate for the normal cacophany of life.
I doubt I shall sleep tonight. Darkness makes the true silence harder to cope with. I really miss the hum of electricity in the background [if the power goes off I can hear it !], the wind swirling the rain about outside and the boys breathing. And flu induced snoring.
I say sitting, as the last three nights I've spent sitting bolt upright !
To lie down is to risk suffocation by the elephant that is sitting on the front of my face ! Sinus infections are terrible things. I admit defeat, and am hoping for antibiotics. At least then the insanity inducing itching in my inner ear might cease. That and the frightening silence.
If encroaching deafness is to be part of my old age I'll be demanding hearing aids. People who suffer from middle aged related reading problems and refuse to get glasses baffle me. I have three pairs in my current prescription. One upstairs, one downstairs and one in my handbag. I hate not being able to see clearly too !
My head is too full of cotton wool, and my hands always holding soggy tissues, for me to knit much. In fact everything is quite an effort right now.
Sulk.
I do have some fibre goodness to show though. The second package of goodies from my Spin to Knit swap pal.

Rachel sent me some softly spun shetland yarn in three natural shades. Very nice. She also spoilt me with some red and white roving, 80% mrino 20% nylon, which will spin into fab sock yarn. Also a small bag of a cashmere/angora/wool blend to try.
Thanks Rachel, for being such a good pal.
It ended up being a straight swap as the girl who was supposed to be Rachel's pal, and who was my victim, didn't participate.
Here's what I sent Rachel [scroll down]. She knitted some fabulous mitts with the purple yarn, shown here.
I'm knitting some, different, mitts from the same yarn. Next post I'll show them to you and talk about the fibre and the spinning. I bet you can hardly wait !
I can't even taste chocolate.
Pout.
