Added later : There's something I've been meaning to mention for ages. It's really relevant to British citizens but, as with all of life, should be of interest to everyone. It's a petition in support of the provision of speech aids. Really, it's about the provision of a basic human right. The ability to express oneself vocally. To convey one's thoughts, feelings, views, intelligence and have one's voice heard, even through the conduit of a speech aid. Charities are a great resource, but government money and support is what is needed.
Imagine not being able to speak or make oneself understood. What if you, or your child, had your intelligence underestimated or your views discounted, simply because you were not capable of ''normal'' speech.
Please, if you can, will you add your name to this petition ? Make your voice heard in this way.

One world, and all that.

Through the tragedy, the sadness and the pain that I see, my one thought is that the right to a life free of fear and discrimination is, surely, greater than the right to bear arms. I simply do not understand gun culture. Guns kill and maim with terrifying ease. I really hope that we don't follow the U.S. too closely on this one. We have enough guns ''out there'' despite their illegality. I know you can kill with a knife, but it takes more time and effort, generally. Yes, people kill people. Guns allow them to do it more easily, quickly and successfully.
