A picture heavy post, with yarn and knitting at the end.
So much for catching up. Oliver was back at school for three days, then came down with one of those short, sharp summer colds. I am so far behind with everything. The house is a total tip !
Instead of carrying off where I left off, I'm going with exciting news.
Allan was ''working from home'' [don't tell Oliver] last tuesday when, without any warning letter, or appointment, an engineer from Autochair appeared. Lucky that Allan, and the car, were home.
Oliver was ''shocked'' [in a nice way] when he came home.

Pretty close to the £1,500 + cost of this hoist was in the Oliver's Fund account. Thank you all, so very much, for giving Oliver even more freedom and independance. We're planning on going to some forestry commission land, with nice, wide, bark tracks, to give the Hippo it's first off road test. It will be fun. Oliver went out in the Hippo that evening, before bed. He zoomed across the small park that stands between our road and the sea front, at full speed. His hair was blowing in the wind, and his glasses were splattered with unlucky greenfly !
The Hippo looks a little odd in these pics because you have to remove the arm rests and fold the back down to get it into the boot. The boys [!] love the remote control. It's a man thing, apparently.

There've been some knitting new arrivals in recent weeks.
Deb, very generously and kindly, made socks for both the chick and myself. Socks for me is such a big deal. I have very swollen feet and ankles these days, so socks that fit are quite something. You all know that, as knitters, we very rarely get stuff made for us. It means a lot. My last, fabulous, knitted gift were some beautiful alpaca socks from the lovely Heather. I can't find any pics of them, in amongst the 2,000 odd of Oliver !
Here are our new socks, in all there glory.

Deb also sent some lovely new yarn too. Fab colours, dyed by a friend of hers.

On the subject of beautiful yarn, I received a luscious skein of sock yarn from Rabbitch, dyed by her own fair hand. It makes me think of lichen. It will make something beautiful.

We decided to have a private trade. I very much enjoyed picking things for her [I do confess that I rather wish she'd shown stuff on her blog. You never know if people really like stuff...]]. Funnily, she was assigned as my victim in the favourite colour swap. I really did have a good time choosing things in the yellow, orange and red ranges. Not my usual choices at all.
