YOU KNIT, I KNIT, WE ALL KNIT...SQUARES !

I wrote a fab post around these pics yesterday. You can all guess what happened. It's taken 24 hours for me to recover !

So, whilst the boys go off scrunching through the crispy leaves or, as today, get wet on the seafront watching a squally sea, I sit and knit. Mostly squares for Oliver's blankets.

It's been fun, mining the deep sock yarn rich seams in the wool room, coming across forgotten scraps. Remembering the socks I knit. The multi sock yarn was for a pair for my mother. The purple, green and magenta scraps are my handspun, hand dyed yarn. From the T.B.O. The Time Before Oliver. Time being the significant word. When I could mix up stock solutions, create dye pallettes and then dye loads of yarn. I made a gorgeous pair of socks from that yarn. The main colour was the magenta, with the greens and purples as contrasts.

This green and deep magenta based purple are my two most favourite colours. Ever. I love the wide range of deep jewel tones, but these two most of all.
I tell whoever will listen that deep green and purple, with white, are the suffragette colours.
Just saying !
I am so grateful to everyone who is knitting squares, or has bought raffle tickets. In particular dearest Kay, who is the queen of blankets, and Ann who knits perfect grey squares. So calm and balanced. Swap partner extraordinaire Theresa, who has knitted beautiful squares with sweet baby assistance, and whose kind words make me blush. The ever generous Deb and darling Heather. Special thanks to the instigator of all this, Michaela, and Kerrie, who has helped to sew up blanket one and is collecting squares.
If I haven't linked to you please don't feel slighted, just leave comments below so we can find you.
I am so grateful for every single square knitted, knowing that they are made with support and caring, and often love. It means so much. We're also so grateful for every raffle ticket bought.
Thank you.

I have been knitting other stuff. I decided to knit myself a Calorimetry. Despite the snarky comments about being sure to follow gauge I'd say this pattern is flawed. Like nearly all the Calorimetries I've read about, I scaled it down to fit my, really enormous [seriously ! 27 inch circumference !], head. I used Silk Garden, cast on 90 stitches on 4.5 mm needles and did 13 repeats of row 5. Fits perfectly. Still not sure I'll wear it. I think I just have to get used to the look of it on my head. I am not a hat wearer. At all. No !

Oliver glanced up at me as I took these pics. He said ''Take it off. It's too bright for you.''
Thanks son.
