but not on the eyes.

I'm sure it's marked in all your diaries [joke], that today is my forty-eighth birthday ! Good grief ! Heading toward, and then past, forty didn't bother me. Closing in on fifty does.
I'm sure that my view is coloured by not being too well of late. The peri-menopause from hell is making me feel decrepid and, truth be told, miserable. A northern hemisphere january just amplifies the negative mood, I find.
Having said all that, there's plenty to give me a lift. I'm so behind with everything that I am, rather late in the day, going to blog about my fabulous, wooly Christmas gifts.
How could a made to measure pair of socks [ hence very big legs ! ] fail to make a woman feel good ?

These most beautiful socks, with another hank of the Dream in Colour Smooshy from which they were knit, were a wonderful gift from the thoughtful, kind and generous Deb.
Look at the beautiful knitting.

A truly fabulous,much appreciated, present.
My dear, sweet friend Heather comissioned some handpainted laceweight for me. What a fab gift !

It's from here, and is perfect for me. I have a pattern in mind for this stunning yarn.
The lovely, generous Polly sent me some incredibly fine superwash merino to spin.

The colours remind me of sugar almonds. In all the years I've been spinning I've never tried spinning superwash fibre. It's very smooth, full of static and very fine. I thought it was fine angora when I first felt it. A challenge I'm looking forward to.
Thank you girls !
Next time I intend to talk about my knitting, show you the fabulous goodies I received from a dear friend, in a long standing, rolling swap. Months ago. Sorry Theresa !
Look at the roses the boys gave me. My favourites.

I do intend to celebrate my birthday tomorrow. Well, when I wake up !
48 ! How did that happen ? ...
