THE BIGGEST THANK YOU !

Or "Blog ? What blog ?" !
blossom10:5:08.jpg
The days gallop by. Spring decides to, finally, arrive. And the wind whistles around the blog ! There's been lots going on but much I can't or won't blog about. I still find it hard to sit at the computer for long stretches. Maybe I need to save up for a laptop ?!
I'm here now, so lets get on.

A very big, heartfelt, most sincerely felt, love filled thank you must go to everyone involved in the second life of the most beautiful Kaffe inspired blanket for Oliver. The wonderful Joan, for wanting to raffle her blanket on ebay o benefit Oliver further. Such a generous and loving person, in need of some "get well" love herself. A most generous annonymous buyer, who I hope will enjoy being wrapped in this expression of love. Kay for bringing art to a blanket of knitted squares and drawing so many knitters to the project. Finally to every person who knitted a square or bought a raffle ticket. I thank you all again.
I have, of course, thanked everyone personally. Ages ago ! Wouldn't want you to think I didn't appreciate the kindness, generosity and love shown to my son by so many.
It has been a humbling experience. I never once asked anyone to fundraise for Oliver, and the generosity of so many people astounds me. I may not be able to run 10k [or easily walk 100 yds without pain these days], but it has never been a case of my just sitting back and allowing others to provide for my son. I(t is, to me, wonderful that so much good has come from what was initially an empty promise, made with bravado to improve someone's image. They were lucky to have a friend who felt the need to make it, in some way, a reality [sorry if that's too cryptic, but there's no need for me to be explicit]. The fact that it grew into a project so full of love and genuine giving is testament to the goodness in most people's hearts. It has restored my faith in human nature, and gives me much hope for Oliver's future. I do believe in Karma. I see the soft, golden waves of good karma wash gently over so many wonderful knitters and friends out there. Can you feel the warmth ? It is a good, good thing.

ETA : In response to this comment : "Don't forget Michaela in the blanket thanks! I only caught the tail end of the amazing blanket saga but seemed to do a marvellous job!"

I am talking about one particular blanket, made from squares knitted by so many lovely knitters in the U.S. It was orchestrated by Kay, who put an incredible amount of work, heart and soul into it.
I do not require reminding to thank Michaela. I have thanked her on this blog a number of times [it can be useful to read archives], personally by e-mail, e-card and with gifts of yarn and knitted mitts.
I am aware of the rumblings in some quarters that I did not show sufficient gratitude. How much would be enough, exactly ?
It did prove to be a lot of work for Micheala, as I don't think she expected such a phenomenal response. I offered, on numerous occasions, to sew up the blankets abnd write the raffle tickets. I collated all the raffle ticket sales, compiling names, number of tickets bought and e-mails in an attempt to make it all easier.
Of course I am grateful to Michaela for all she did. I know the background behind the offer to do ''a small blanket'' in the first place. I most certainly give her credit for sticking with it once it became a lot bigger than intended. We are all very grateful for that.
I was writing here about the incredible generosity of Joan, who, having won the U.S. blanket, decided she wanted to try and raise more money with it. She is a wonderfully generous person. I wished to convey my sincere gratitude and love to her for that.

I do hope that has clarified things further.

There are some wonderful individual kindnesses too, that I must tell you about. Someone I only know on-line is taking the brave step of launching an indy dye buisness. I know she has put a lot of thought into it and really done her research. It's something she takes very seriously and wants to do well, like so many of the small buisnesses I like to buy yarn from. Unfortunately Helen had to rush to Rome to take care of her parents. Her mother had an accident and is in hospital. All very worrying.
Before she had to go she popped a special something in the post for Oliver.

"Oliver's Colours" sock yarn.
The colours are wonderful and perfect. He loves it ! I hope Helen will dye more when she is able to do so.

I finished Tracey's socks, knitted as little hugs for her feet to show my love for her, a dear friend. They fit ! She loves them. A happy FO !

For details see my previous post. Those who need some Lucia may wish to visit this link to Posh yarn in the U.S.
I don't buy much yarn these days.
Shut up !
I tend to buy small amounts. Single hanks of luscious stuff that catches my eye. Some I knit, some I stash and some I love, squeeze, sniff, pet then gift to friends who I know will love it !
My latest yarn crush is Skein Queen, whose colours are so bright and clear, full of summer light. Beautiful yarns, wonderful service. Just look at these skeins, full of promise. Gorgeous !

Actually, using the word crush implies a fickleness on my part which is not so. If I like something I go back for more. I will need to curb my desire to keep going back to the Skein Queen !

I really must get on and finish this second sock ! [Again, look in past posts for details].

I also have some secret knitting going on ! ...

Knit well. I'll try to. :0)
